Two Potters is a husband & wife duo from Malaysia who met through pottery. They spent much time in Taiwan, and learned most of their knowledge and techniques there; including mixing of their own clay and glazes. They involve themselves greatly in every step of their process - from the mixing of their clays, formulating their own glazes, as well as firing their works.
'In our studio in Terengganu, we wish to create a community to share our love for pottery. In this series of work, we feature a few of our signature glazes. One of them is the blue celadon glazes. The traditional celadon glaze has a slight grey tone due to bubbles present in the glaze. We modified the glaze recipe to suppress this grey tone, in order to produce the blue colour that resemble the colour of the ocean, which is what makes our home, Terengganu so mesmerising. On the other hand, the copper red is also an iconic traditional glaze in Chinese pottery due to its vibrancy and unpredictability. All of these glazes are fired in a reduction atmosphere, which also
gives some surprises which may not be replicated in each firing. This is what makes each of the pieces so unique. '
